HOW TO ... Run Programs & Games Made for XP, Vista and Windows 7 on Windows 8 Operating System



So you've purchased a yourself a copy of Windows 8, the latest and most anticipated operating system from Microsoft ever. You've installed the OS onto your PC or perhaps laptop and feeling totally happy with yourself, perhaps even convincing yourself that bugs aside, this was the best decision you've ever made for yourself.

Now's the part where you try and install a program that worked well on XP or Vista or perhaps tried to install one of your favourite games but guess what, the program or game has an incompatibility problem... what do you do?

Well here's a potential solution....

1. Right-click on the installer / .exe file
2. Click on properties on menu

 
 
3. On the properties menu click on compatibility.
 


4. Either choose run compatibility troubleshooter or choose the compatibility settings manually.


5. Your program or game now has a better chance of running.

It is important to not that in such cases you should run application etc as administrator. Your application may not run entirely but with Windows 8 having bugs fixed and aging there will be programs developed or in development that may assist you in the near future.
